Conference Vetting System

The Conference Vetting System is a unique initiative in the healthcare industry. Launched at the beginning of 2012, this independently managed system reviews the compliance of third-party educational conferences with the Eucomed Code of Ethical Business Practice (the “Code”) to determine the appropriateness for companies which are members of Eucomed and members of the national associations affiliated with Eucomed to sponsor Healthcare Professionals to participate in such conferences.

The Conference Vetting System is a centralised decision-making system that encourages transparency and consistency in medical conferences and alleviates the complex administrative burden previously faced by Eucomed members, who were constrained to make their own determinations on whether or not a conference is compliant with the Code. Each conference submitted under the Conference Vetting System for assessment is evaluated by the Compliance Officer against several criteria established in accordance with the principles and standards set out in the Eucomed Code of Ethical Business Practice.

The decisions rendered are binding on Eucomed members which means that members of Eucomed and of national associations affiliated with Eucomed may not directly sponsor or cover expenses of Healthcare Professionals to attend a third-party conference which is found to be not compliant.

The conference vetting system is hosted by the EthicalMedTech platform, supported by Eucomed, dedicated to ethics and compliance projects in the European MedTech industry. For more information on CVS please visit
