The European MedTech Forum is the largest health and medical technology industry conference in Europe. Organised by MedTech Europe’s alliance members Eucomed and EDMA, the sixth edition of the MedTech Forum will take place on 9 - 11 October 2013 at the Dolce La Hulpe, Belgium.
Last year the conference brought together more than 400 participants active in the EU healthcare scene, including policymakers, scientific communities, patients' representatives, healthcare professionals, academics and representatives of the global medtech industry.
This year’s edition will revolve around the theme “New Rules. New Markets. Medical Devices and Diagnostics’ place in a changing Europe”.
For payers, policymakers and other stakeholders, proving that new diagnostics and devices are safe and perform effectively is no longer enough. In an age of austerity, industry needs to prove the value it brings to healthcare. Industry needs to play by new rules and will need to change towards a value-based innovation model in order to remain successful in Europe. Various plenaries and workshop sessions will discuss in detail how to operate under the new rules. These sessions will be led by global experts from renowned consulting companies.
And of course the revision of the European legislation for diagnostics and medical devices will be prominently featured throughout the various sessions including interactive workshops.
The diagnostic and medical device industry is increasingly looking at the opportunities and threats related to emerging markets. On the one hand, emerging markets provide an opportunity for expansion, but on the other hand, the innovation coming out of the emerging markets could be perceived as a threat to current business models in Europe. It is essential t distinguish between EMEA and global emerging markets and as such we will clearly specify this difference during the workshops and plenary sessions.
Not only do we see changes in Europe that impact industry, Europe’s position in the world is also shifting. The medical devices and diagnostics industry will have to find their place in this evolving context and the 2013 European MedTech Forum will provide the latest insights and views on how industry can effectively adapt to the new reality.
